Pushback Rack in Daly City, CA

Pushback rack in Daly City needs to earn its space inside buildings where storage shares the floor with offices, picking and dispatch. The objective is not to fill every remaining rectangle with pallets. It is to concentrate repeat reserve while preserving the movements that turn stored retail goods into completed daily orders.

Bayshore and the Geneva Avenue corridor provide a useful setting for that discussion, as do Serramonte flex operations. Their retail replenishment needs can combine full-pallet receipts with smaller outbound quantities. We plan new rack around that difference, looking for reserve inventory that can share lanes without making case picking, vehicle loading or access around existing work areas more difficult.

Fit Pushback Pallet Rack Around Flex Constraints

Measurements should include office projections, columns, stairs, workstations and the forklift's turning envelope. Pallet height and cart geometry determine vertical spacing, while loaded weight establishes required capacities. Beam dimensions and frame height must follow the resulting arrangement rather than a standard bay assumption. Pallet bases also need examination because broken boards, inconsistent construction or unsupported contact points can interfere with intended cart support.

Pushback rack can serve repeat goods with fewer aisles than a comparable selective arrangement, although selective storage provides access to each pallet. Drive-in also offers depth but requires truck entry into the lane. Pallet flow provides first-in, first-out movement through separate faces, which may consume working space a small retail dispatch operation cannot spare.

Existing compatibility is a separate question from whether the layout fits. We review beam connections, frame identification, condition and available capacity documentation before considering any integration with new equipment. Installation planning defines receiving and material placement areas while protecting the routes needed for ongoing picking. The proposed reserve block should make the remaining floor more usable, not merely increase the counted pallet positions.

Make Pushback Rack Serve the Working Floor

A compact warehouse needs an honest boundary between storage and work. We identify dispatch staging, picking positions and forklift turning space before choosing rack depth. That sequence prevents a dense reserve proposal from claiming the area employees need to sort merchandise or assemble the next route.

Retail assortments also change. A lane plan should reflect the number of pallets held per item, not assume every product arrives in equal quantities. Shallow lanes may offer a better balance where repeat goods coexist with seasonal lines, while individually accessed positions remain useful for smaller or unpredictable quantities.

Storage supply and installation have been part of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co. since 1997; we operate as a division of that company. Our planning connects new equipment specifications with the physical arrangement and the installation activities needed inside an occupied flex building.

How Push Back Racking Uses a Single Aisle

A shared loading and retrieval face reduces the aisle demand of repeat reserve. The forklift handles pallets from outside each lane rather than traveling between stored loads.

    1

    Match Depth to Assortment

Systems store pallets two to six deep. Select depth by repeat item quantities, leaving smaller retail assortments in positions that do not require shared access.

    2

    Place Pallets on Carts

Nested carts support the loads. During replenishment, the incoming pallet pushes occupied carts rearward along inclined rails, opening the front position for the new load.

    3

    Follow LIFO Retrieval

Last-in, first-out handling means the newest pallet is retrieved first. Remaining loads advance toward the aisle as the front pallet is removed under operator control.

    4

    Keep Picking Available

Use the reserve block to replenish separate picking locations. That preserves access for partial orders without making workers pull individual cases from behind other pallets.
